Hello, Carmichael Campus Families,

Just a reminder, that if you wish to use Club M on Monday, Nov. 10th, you must turn in the sign-up form with payment by this Friday.  This is considered a separate Intersession Day and is not included in the regular Club M contract.

As communicated in the classroom newsletters and email, the children may wear school appropriate costumes on Friday. There are several mandatory guidelines, so please read those over in advance to save any issues at home that morning with your child. We are all looking forward to a fun dress-up day together, which will begin with an all-school assembly in the morning.

Have a good night.

Ms. Kim

Message from the Principal

October 6, 2014

Dear CMP Carmichael Families,

Over the past couple of weeks, I have had the pleasure of observing in the classrooms to see the students in action. I am looking for the overall  engagement of the students in their work and for their understanding of the expectations in the classroom. Maria Montessori called this Normalization.

It is a wonderful transformation to see over several weeks' time. Of course this varies with the age of the students, but usually within 6 to 8 weeks, the children begin to settle into a routine, and they become more responsible for themselves and their classroom.

I know parents have been anxiously awaiting the time to come into the classrooms to volunteer, but it is important for the class to come together first as a community. Too many adults can disrupt this process from occurring. But soon, the teachers will be inviting you into the classroom to help with a variety of tasks, or to drive on field trips. No matter at what age, this is very special for the parents and their children. Being involved in your child's education not only allows you to share in their day to day experiences, but the child is proud to have their parent in the classroom helping.

For those parents unable to come in during the day, doing take-home tasks or being involved in events on campus also shows your child that you take their education seriously and you support their school.

If you haven't yet participated in the 7 Habits of Effective Volunteers presentation, as well as completed the other required screenings, do so soon. Even if you can only participate occasionally, it will be so worth it - an experience you won't want to miss out on!

I hope every single parent attends their child's Parent/Teacher Conference. This is another way to connect with the teacher and hear about your child's academic and social growth over the past several weeks.

It is my pleasure, and that of the staff, to work with parents to create the best school experience for every child. Thank you for your support and involvement.

Most Sincerely,

Ms. Kim
